Eberhard Schoneburg is a well known IT and mobile
industry veteran and entrepreneur. He started over 20 successful companies
in this field in Europe, Asia and the USA.
Mr. Schoneburg is currently CEO and Chairman of Artificial Life, Inc. and has been so since its inception in Boston in 1994. He manages all subsidiaries as well. After a management buy-out by him in 1997 he listed Artificial Life Inc. on the NASDAQ National Market stock exchange and achieved a peak market cap of approx 400 MM USD in 2001. Mr. Schoneburg is currently still the largest individual stock holder of the Company.
Prior to founding Artificial Life, he founded and managed NEUROTEC GmbH and the BIT Group and their subsidiaries, including a joint venture with Procter & Gamble, in Germany. NEUROTEC at its time was Europe's biggest independent Internet company and launched the first Internet based electronic shopping mall in Europe for Karstadt AG in Germany, one of Europe's biggest retailers.
Prior to NEUROTEC GmbH, Mr. Schoneburg founded and served as Chairman of Expert Informatik GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, and specializing in expert systems development, anti-virus programs, and neural network applications in finance. During this time, from 1988 - 1994, he also served and taught as a professor for industrial applications of neural nets and artificial intelligence at the technical university (Fachhochschule) in Furtwangen, Germany.
Mr. Schoneburg's previous employment also includes the management of the new technologies department for aerospace systems at Dornier German Aerospace, as well as software and research engineering for consumer electronics at Siemens AG in Boca Raton, Fla, USA.
Mr. Schoneburg and his team won numerous awards among them: the First Prize of the Berlin Innovation Award for the development of the first European neural compiler (1990), and the First Prize for the development of an expert system for detecting chemical hazards for Procter and Gamble (1992), the Best Enabling Technology Award by the Multimedia Council, Boston 1999, and the global Best Mobile Game award by Ericsson in 2004.
In addition, Mr. Schoneburg is a prominent speaker at industry conferences world wide and has written five lecture books and more than sixty research papers pertaining to computer viruses, neural networks, evolution strategies and genetic programming. Mr. Schoneburg holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the Freie Universitaet in Berlin, Germany.
Rene Jaeggi started his impressive career as Sales
Manager at W.R. Grace Chemicals in Zurich and R.J. Reynolds in Geneva.
In 1982, he became Manager of Central Europe at Duracell AG. From 1986
to 1993, he was the CEO of Adidas AG where he was responsible for over
14,000 employees and revenues in excess of USD 4 billion. After 1993,
he was co-owner of Romika GmbH in Germany, Chairman of H.T.M in Vienna,
Chairman of StairMaster in the US, as well as member of the board of
Rutledge Capital also in the US. He is currently Chairman of Flora Eco
Power AG in Munich, a public bio energy company.
Kazutoshi Miyake is a games industry veteran.
He has over 30 years of experience in international business development
and management. As Director of Business Development, Mr. Miyake assists
Artificial Life, Inc. in its expansion to become a major mobile player
in Japan.
In 1993, he became General Manager of Sega Enterprises Ltd., running Sega's operations in Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific. He then became the CEO of Sega Europe Ltd. from 1994 to 2001. He has remained in the video games industry ever since, taking up the posts of non-executive board member of Andromeda Entertainment Ltd. (UK), Akaei Plc. (UK), Infogrames Entertainment SA (France), and Acclaim Entertainment (UK) from 2001 to 2003.
In addition to his extensive experience, Mr. Miyake has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Osaka University of Foreign Studies in Japan.
Ernest Axelbank has been with Artificial Life
since 1998. He started out as a Technology Intern and has now become
the Chief Technology Officer. Over the years, he has contributed valuable
industry experience from his previous employment in the United States,
including Harvard Law School and Prometheus, Inc. As CTO, he supervises
and manages all core technology development, mobile technology development,
enterprise java development, and security.
Mr. Axelbank has given talks in many prominent conferences around the world. He was a speaker at the Telecoms InfoTechnology Forum for the Next Generation Wireless Services in Hong Kong as well as the International Advertising & Multimedia Festival in Switzerland.
Mr. Axelbank holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Art from Northeastern University in Boston.
Ina Setzepfandt advises our company in all legal matters. Her practice focuses on the contractual monitoring of our business operations as well as all activities relating to licensing, intellectual property, trademarks, e-commerce, IT and media law.
She started her law career at Universal Music GmbH, Digital Division. Prior to that Ms. Setzepfandt graduated from law school at Humboldt- University Berlin with the First State Exam in Law and took her Second State Exam in Law at August 2006. During her education she had the opportunity to work for Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, an international corporate law firm in New York City, and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German General Counsel in Toronto, Canada.
In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Setzepfandt has a diverse background in media from different activities at Bertelsmann Arvato AG, Telekom AG and at the international PR-Agency, Weber Shandwick. She is a member of media.net berlinbrandenburg.
As a Product Manager, Keith Chan coordinates schedules for product development and launch, as well as communicates with clients for multiple company projects. He also works closely with the development teams, collaborating the efforts of designers and developers to ensure smooth delivery of quality products that meets the market’s needs.
Céline Hadaya advises Artificial Life in all legal matters and in particular license and distribution contracts review and negotiation. She also acts in the field of compliance with SEC requirements and investor communications.
Mrs. Hadaya previously worked as a senior legal counsel for Verizon Business in France. She also acquired a strong business development and regulatory background while working for the expansion of Afripa Telecom (a former Titan Wireless Communication Inc. affiliate) across Africa, and for the expansion of Star One International GmbH. across Europe.
Mrs. Hadaya is specialized in International Business Law. She graduated from Sciences-Po, Economics and Finance (Lille, France) as well as from Copenhagen Business School.
As the head of the Finance Department, Irene Chan monitors Artificial Life's accounting and financial reporting. She leads her team in preparing the SEC filings, monitoring the internal control system and SOX compliance, and managing funds and budgets.
Ada Fong leads all business development affairs
and transactions with global operators in Asia, Middle East, Europe
and North America. She also handles corporate and consumer marketing
programs, such as co-marketing and sponsorship programs with carriers
and product placement partners.
As the Creative Director, MaryAnna Donaldson is
responsible for incorporating various elements, such as humor, to the games. Since 2003, she has been writing and translating scripts pertaining
to the product's creative content. Early in her career, she worked as a reporter at Bloomberg, where she covered the French, Belgian, and Swiss financial markets. Later, she moved to Japan where she worked as an art dealer and was involved in translation and editing services for various cable television programs in Tokyo.
Ms. Donaldson began her education studying liberal arts at Swarthmore
College and finished up with an Economics degree from the University
of Pennsylvania, having also studied at the Wharton School of Business.
She later studied Theater in Paris and Fine Arts at the Barnes Foundation
in Philadelphia.
Ms. Donaldson speaks several languages. Her colorful educational and employment
background fuels her inspiration as she helps to direct Artificial
Life's various creative projects.
As Global Controller, Frank Namyslik oversees the financial activities
in each department and subsidiary of the Company. He had been the
Global Controller of Artificial Life, Inc. between 2000 to 2002, and
has continued this post in 2007.
Mr. Namyslik has extensive experience in finance. After studying Informatics and Mathematics from 1981 to 1988, he co-founded Neurotech Hochtechnology GmbH and became its authorised officer until 1995. From 1996 to 2000, he took up the post of Managing Director at Qnet Systems GmbH before joining Artificial Life, Inc. After 2003, he was Head of Finance of an institute of University of Arts in Berlin
Madison Lee heads the graphic and 3D design team
at Artificial Life since 2004. He is responsible for project management
as well as the training and development of the design team. He is proficient
in using Autodesk Maya, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects,
Premiere, InDesign, Macromedia Flash, Director and Dreamweaver.
Calvin Lo oversees the entire game production process including programming, research and development, and product rollout activities. Managing a team of over 40 engineers, Mr. Lo is responsible for the development of all of ALIFE's products and technologies. He was also one of the leading developers for V-girl™, the first 3G streaming and networking mobile game which won the many awards around the globe. With his extensive know-how and passion for the gaming industry, Mr. Lo heads up the production by utilizing advanced tools and technology developed in-house which greatly shorten the production cycle. Mr. Lo and his stellar team consistently create high-end mobile applications that are very appealing to international audiences.
Pinkie Lee overlooks the entire development
process for Artificial Life’s many mobile products--coordinating
production and navigating projects between departments to make sure
everything runs smoothly. She maintains close communication between
the Company and partners during all phases of the development process,
as well as keeps a keen eye on products after they’ve hit the market for
updates and expansions.
